2 injured, many trapped as uncompleted building collapses in Lagos

Two construction workers were injured and a yet to be identified number trapped as a building under construction collapsed in the Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State.

Emergency workers from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and others with two excavators were as of 6:30 on Tuesday evening still battling to rescue the trapped workers.Tribune Online gathered that the construction workers had all slept in the building on Monday night with the plan to continue their work on Tuesday morning.
It was also gathered that the two workers rescued had gone downstairs to do some chores when the building caved in and injured the two of them.
One of the injured workers was said to be brushing his teeth while the other was washing clothes when the building collapsed.
The NEMA spokesperson in the south west, Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the collapse of the building and added that the rescued workers had been taken to the hospital for treatment.
Farinloye also added that rescue operation would continue until all the workers have been evacuated from the building.
